Energy efficiency is priority

Energy efficiency is one of the priorities of the Polish Energy Policy. A reasonable sum of money is allocated for that purpose in EU funded Operational Programs, in the National Fund for Environment Protection and Water Management as well as in Regional Funds for Environment Protection and Water Management.

Local authorities are obliged by law to develop local energy plans covering also EE aspects. Results of ALLIES could be adopted to those plans as well as to low-carbon economy action plans and low emission mitigation plans which have often become a must for municipalities.

Some regional governments (Silesia, Lesser Poland) issued laws to stop burning low quality solid fuels and to stop using inefficient boilers. These developments result in needs to develop mechanisms to help citizens to adjust to new law.
